A Renowned Lung Cancer Screening Program Within Driving Distance of Venice, FL
Moffitt Cancer Center – a Lung Cancer Alliance-Designated Screening Center of Excellence located in Tampa, Florida, which is north of Venice – provides comprehensive screening services to individuals who have an elevated risk of developing lung cancer. Moffitt’s renowned program offers not only traditional screening options, such as high-definition CT scans and clinical examinations, but also risk reduction counseling and preventive care services, such as smoking cessation programs.
As part of our commitment to improving patient outcomes and quality of life one individual at a time, Moffitt offers comprehensive lung cancer screening services to anyone who is considered “at-risk” based on current best practices. This includes individuals who are:
- Between the ages of 55 and 77
- Current smokers who smoked the equivalent of one pack of cigarettes per day for 30 years, two packs per day for 15 years or three packs per day for 10 years
- Former smokers who meet the above criteria for the number of cigarettes smoked and have quit using tobacco within the last 15 years
Individuals who are 50 years of age or older and have a history of smoking either one pack a day for 20 years or two packs a day for 10 years may also wish to consider lung cancer screenings if they also have another known risk factor, such as a family history of lung cancer, prior occupational carcinogen exposure or a personal history of COPD.
Moffitt’s screening services are available in three locations, each of which is about 90 minutes away from Venice. Patients can visit Moffitt Cancer Center, Moffitt Cancer Center at International Plaza or Moffitt McKinley Outpatient Center to consult with our experienced lung cancer screening team regarding their options.
