Pam's Story

Pam came to Moffitt Cancer Center after 21 years as an ER/Trauma nurse. “After an epiphany, I took a chance and took a job here at MCC and I have never looked back.”

And she’s glad she did.

Every day Pam’s patients empower her to be the best nurse she can be. 

“I look at them and it's so much more than bravery,” she explains. “They face the absolute worst and they come in and they go to work. I mean, that's the true definition of courage. And that they trust us enough to be part of that journey. That's ... That's it right there.”

This courage inspires Pam to bring her patients as much joy as possible.  She’ll stand at the finish line of Miles for Moffitt cheering for them, track down tickets for them to see their favorite sports team play, or just spend more time visiting with them.

“Moffitt gives me that opportunity to really impact a difference in [patients] lives,” she says.  “We’re caring for the whole person, not just the disease.”

She sees it every day.  From the team at the coffee shop who always have a smile and an encouraging word to the unconditional love of a therapy dog, every little bit makes an impact with the patients. 

“I think that's one of the things I love best about  Moffitt is it's not just the nurses and the doctors. Everybody wants to help,” she says. “It's so much more than the skills and the things we can do. There's ... There's a heart to it.”
