Moffitt Cancer Center’s Breast Oncology Program provides comprehensive, multispecialty treatment to more than one thousand breast cancer patients each year. As a high-volume cancer center, we have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating some of the rarest breast malignancies, as well as more common variants. Led by Dr. Brian Czerniecki, our program welcomes both male and female patients and receives numerous referrals every year from physicians across the country.

Moffitt is designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence and is accredited by the American College of Radiology in mammography, breast ultrasound, breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), stereotactic and ultrasound-guided core needle breast biopsy.

Physicians who refer their patients to our National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center are assuring the following:

  • Individualized therapy plans from oncologists who specialize exclusively in breast cancer treatment – Moffitt’s breast program is comprised of expert fellowship-trained breast surgeons, reconstructive surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, mid-level practitioners and supportive care providers who work exclusively with breast cancer patients, ensuring a high level of specialization. These oncologists use evidence-based pathways to tailor each patient’s treatment plan to his or her exact needs, and our tumor board meets weekly to review each patient’s progress.
  • Access to next-generation treatments and technologies – Moffitt's advanced program utilizes some of the newest diagnostic and therapeutic technologies in the region.
  • All-inclusive medical attention in a single location – Moffitt provides preventative, genetic screening, diagnostic, therapeutic and supportive care service in the same clinic, eliminating the need to have a primary physician write multiple referrals to numerous specialists.
  • The opportunity to participate in clinical trials – Moffitt hosts numerous breast cancer trials each year, offering patients access to some of the latest innovations in treatment before those treatments are approved for use in other settings.  Dr. Heather Han is the Breast Program Research Director as well as a medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer. Many Breast Program faculty members are principal investigators for phase one and phase two clinical trials evaluating novel breast cancer therapies designed to improve prognosis, reduce side effects and improve quality of life. To learn more about the clinical trials currently available at Moffitt, contact us at 813-745-6100 or 1-800-679-0775 (toll-free) or submit a clinical trials inquiry form.

Because we emphasize short referral times, patients who are sent to Moffitt are often able to schedule their first appointment within a few days. We understand that every day counts – that’s just one more reason physicians trust Moffitt with their patients.
