The PA student that wants to do a clinical rotation at Moffitt needs to be affiliated with a PA school and in their 2nd year of training. They need to have BLS certification and in good standing with their program. The PA student can expect to work individually with a Physician Assistant or in some cases with an ARNP. The PA student will be able to interact with the entire medical team to include Physicians, Fellows, Residents, Social Workers, Case Managers and Pharmacists. The PA student will be able to learn about various medical conditions as they pertain to the Oncology patient. The PA student will learn about Medical, Radiation and Surgical oncology. The PA student will have the opportunity to work in the outpatient clinic, inpatient and surgical settings along with getting experience in our Direct Referral Center. The PA student will have opportunities to interview and exam patients and develop a History and Physical. The PA student will learn how to evaluate diagnostic testing and come up with a differential diagnosis and treatment plan. In some cases the PA student will learn how to navigate the Operating rooms and learn how to first assist in surgery. There are also educational opportunities within Moffitt’s Tumor Boards to learn about radiology and pathology regarding Oncology patients.
