Don Futrell
Vice President, Planning, Design and ConstructionVice President of Planning, Design and Construction Don Futrell has more than 30 years of facilities and support service experience and more than 40 years of experience in healthcare.
Futrell’s leadership responsibilities encompass all planning, design and construction activities for all of Moffitt’s campus and satellite facilities. He is currently leading the design and construction of the new expansion hospital on the McKinley East campus. This new 430,000-square-foot, 128 bed, 24 operating room facility is scheduled to open in 2023.
Futrell has an active role in Moffitt master planning and is responsible for Moffitt’s construction, capital renovation and real estate portfolio. Prior to joining Moffitt in 2014, he served as executive director of Facilities Management and Planning for the Nebraska Medical Center, where he oversaw more than $375 million in renovation and construction projects and led the planning for the $400 million Buffett Cancer Center.
Prior to that, Futrell served in a variety of leadership roles at Truman Medical Center, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Health Midwest and University of Chicago Hospitals.
