Vice President, Facilities and Support Services
Vice President of Facilities and Support Services Don Futrell has more than 25 years of facilities and support service experience and more than 35 years of experience working in healthcare.
Futrell’s management responsibilities extend over the 2 million square feet that Moffitt Cancer Center now occupies. He also acts as the owner's representative for all major construction projects, including the $88 million, 207,000-square-foot, six-story McKinley Outpatient Center that opened in November 2015. Less than a mile from Moffitt’s main hospital, the McKinley Center fulfills a critical need for expanded outpatient services, including an ambulatory surgery center and more. Building the outpatient center added 600 construction jobs to the local economy and hundreds more in permanent positions upon its opening.
Futrell has an active role in Moffitt facility management and is responsible for planning, renovation and construction and plant operations. He was the executive director of Facilities Management and Planning for the Nebraska Medical Center, where he oversaw more than $375 million in renovation and construction projects. Prior to that, Futrell served in a variety of leadership roles at Truman Medical Center, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Health Midwest and University of Chicago Hospitals.
