Moffitt Cancer Center, AdventHealth Join Forces to Expand Cancer Care
Moffitt Cancer Center is partnering with AdventHealth on two groundbreaking initiatives: opening an outpatient cancer center on the campus of AdventHealth Wesley Chapel and bringing early-phase clinical trials and other world-class cancer treatments to patients in the Central Florida region.
The new Moffitt outpatient center in Pasco County will provide medical and radiation oncology services, in addition to cancer screenings and survivorship programs. It is slated to open in the fall of 2020.
The Central Florida facility will encompass the first and only Phase 1 site, where researchers from both organizations will conduct early phase clinical trials to develop new drugs so patients can receive critical treatments closer to home.
In addition to the clinical research facility, the two organizations will work together to establish a chemotherapy/immunotherapy infusion program at AdventHealth Celebration. That program will be focused on solid tumor malignancies and malignant hematology.
This significant partnership allows both organizations to develop and share a single cancer research agenda. In addition, it will accelerate breakthrough research for the prevention and cure of cancer.
"This partnership is a key element of AdventHealth’s ongoing major investment in and expansion of cancer treatment and research operations," said Daryl Tol, President & CEO of AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division.
