Pinellas Residents Can Receive Moffitt Radiation Oncology Services Closer to Home
Treatment has become much easier for cancer patients in Pinellas County. Through a partnership, Moffitt Radiation Oncology faculty is providing services at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater. This brings Moffitt expertise closer to home for those patients needing radiation therapy.
The venture is led by Dr. Roberto Diaz, who serves as the Section Head for Breast Oncology in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Moffitt. Dr. Diaz also serves as the Radiation Oncology Program Leader at Morton Plant. Several additional radiation oncologists are credentialed to see patients at Morton Plant.
Dr. Louis Harrison, chair of Moffitt’s Department of Radiation Oncology, says the partnership allows patients living in Pinellas County to receive access to care at a hospital closer to home. "By working with the outstanding physician and staff of Morton Plant and using their state-of-the-art facility, Moffitt can expand on its mission to prevent and cure cancer," he says.
