Moffitt Day 2017

Moffitt researchers, physicians, patients, volunteers and advocates converged on Feb. 7 for the 12th annual Moffitt Day in Tallahassee to seek state support for its mission: to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. Center Director Tom Sellers led a news conference with Sen. Dana Young, Rep. Jamie Grant, Foundation board member Cindy Gruden and others to announce expansion plans for a new state-of-the-art facility to better serve patients with scientific advances.

They announced a new bill asking lawmakers for an $8 million increase in the annual funding that Moffitt receives from Florida’s cigarette tax.

More than a dozen Cure on Wheels cyclists embarked on a 325-mile bike ride from Tampa to Tallahassee to lend their support.
