Overview
Cancer Focus: Esophageal Cancer, Neuroendocrine Tumor, Pancreatic Cancer, Small Intestine Cancer, Stomach (Gastric) Cancer Dr. Pimiento earned his MD degree at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He completed a general surgery residency at Saint Mary's Health System/Affiliated Yale University School of Medicine and a Fellowship in Surgical Research in Vascular Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine. He then completed a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology and Advanced Fellowship in Surgical Oncology Research at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Pimiento joined Moffitt from Mercy Health Partners/Mercy Health-St. Mary's and served as the Medical Director, Surgical Oncology at the Lacks Cancer Center. Dr. Pimiento's clinical interest is in malignancies of the upper gastrointestinal tract, including esophageal, gastric, pancreatic, colorectal and liver cancers. His practice is focused on minimally invasive approaches including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Pimiento has helped develop a comprehensive robotic program for the management of upper gastrointestinal and pancreatic tumors, making Moffitt Cancer Center one of the leaders in this field in the country.
