Join the fight against cancer while building your career as a Moffitt Postdoctoral Fellow

researcher in the Shain lab

Moffitt Cancer Center supports a faculty of nearly 200 basic science and clinical researchers, and as an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, our research enterprise offers training in numerous key areas in the fight against cancer. By combining cutting-edge research facilities with a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, we provide fellows with the skills and support they need to gain independence and pursue a career path of their choosing, whether in academics, industry, government, or others.

Areas of investigation

Areas of investigation at Moffitt are focused on highly translational science and are organized within five programs:

  • Cancer Biology and Evolution
  • Cancer Epidemiology
  • Health Outcomes and Behavior
  • Immuno-Oncology
  • Molecular Medicine

Commitment to Training

MCC attracts postdoctoral fellows from all over the world and trains them to become outstanding scientific leaders. We currently have over 100 postdoctoral fellows representing more than 25 nations and a wide range of disciplines within the five Moffitt Research Programs. Approximately two-thirds of our postdocs are foreign nationals, nearly half are women, and 25% are classified as underrepresented minorities. This rich group of diverse disciplines and backgrounds facilitates a robust collegial experience for our trainees.

Moffitt researchers and postdoctoral fellows have access to our 14 Cancer Center Support Grant-funded Shared Research Core Facilities. The Cores are designed to provide a centralized, standardized research platform with a collaborative and integrative approach to serving the research needs of our investigators. Each Core has a dedicated scientific director to provide oversight and guidance to the scientific direction and technical resources of the facility. In addition to providing technical expertise and collaborative consultations, the Cores also provide educational and training opportunities for interested postdoctoral fellows.

All Moffitt postdoctoral fellows receive dedicated career support from the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA).

It is the mission of the OPA to provide an environment where fellows from all over the world feel comfortable, understood and involved, making their postdoctoral experience more personally and professionally gratifying. Please contact us at opa@moffitt.org for more information.
