What is individualized bladder cancer treatment?

The multispecialty team in our Urologic Oncology Program is focused on developing individualized bladder cancer treatment plans to help ensure the best possible outcome and quality of life for each patient we treat. We begin with a thorough evaluation of a number of unique factors, including the size and stage of the cancer, the patient’s previous treatment history and the unique molecular makeup of the tumor. Then, if appropriate, we may recommend:

  • A segmental or radical cystectomy
  • A minimally invasive robot-assisted cystectomy
  • A transurethral resection with fulguration
  • Continent urinary tract reconstruction
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation treatment
  • Intravesical therapy
  • Novel immunotherapies or biological therapies that are exclusively available through our clinical trials
  • Supportive care services
