3D CRT, or three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy, is one of the highly advanced radiation treatments offered at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. In this treatment, three-dimensional images of a patient’s tumor (i.e., images produced by CT or MRI scans) are used to guide the delivery of high-energy beams. This allows a patient’s treatment team to carefully administer radiation therapy to the tumor while sparing the adjacent healthy tissues and organs from radiation exposure.

The enhanced precision of 3D CRT allows Moffitt’s radiation oncologists to treat many types of cancer that were once not treatable with radiation therapy because of the high risk of damage to surrounding structures. While 3D CRT can be used to treat nearly any type of cancer, it is commonly used in the management of:

  • Head and neck cancer
  • Lung cancer
  • Spinal cord tumors
  • Prostate cancer
  • Breast cancer

3D CRT is just one of the advanced treatments offered at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
