  • Overview

    Cancer Focus:
Endometrial (Uterine) Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Proton Therapy, Rectal Cancer, Vaginal Cancer, Vulvar Cancer

Dr. Lorraine Portelance received her medical degree from the University of Montreal in Quebec, Canada, where she also completed her residency in Radiation Oncology. She went on to complete a fellowship in Radiation Oncology and Gynecologic Cancer Management at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis, Missouri.

Currently, she serves as Vice Chair and Clinical Division Chief in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. Before joining Moffitt, Dr. Portelance was a Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Portelance specializes in the treatment of gynecologic and gastrointestinal cancers. A leader in the field, she has helped advance radiation therapy techniques that reduce toxicity and improve disease control. She is internationally recognized for her contributions to clinical trials and her dedication to evidence-based, patient-centered care.

A pioneer in on-board adaptive MR-guided radiation therapy, Dr. Portelance has led innovations in treating gynecologic and GI cancers with greater precision and personalization. She is also a dedicated clinical trialist, actively supporting Moffitt’s collaboration with national research cooperative groups such as NRG Oncology and Alliance. She works closely with the gynecologic oncology team of experts to develop research initiatives to improve outcomes for women with gynecologic cancers.

Her ongoing research focuses on evaluating dose-escalated MR-guided radiation therapy for organ-preserving treatment in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer.

    Overall Satisfaction

    4.9

    57 patients rated this provider

The Provider Rating is an average of all responses to specific care provider-related questions from our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score.

Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.

    Comments

Comments are gathered from specific care provider-related questions from our Patient Satisfaction Survey . The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. Patients are de-identified for confidentiality and patient privacy.

We post both positive and negative comments from the surveys. We do not post comments that are libelous, slanderous, profane, irrelevant or otherwise inappropriate or may risk the privacy of our patients. A “[…]” in the comments below indicates de-identified patient information or comments that are unrelated to the patient’s experience with the visit to the provider, such as comments related to another provider, about the survey itself, or otherwise completely off-topic.

Provider Ratings and comments are gathered from our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. If a provider does not have ratings or comments listed it can be for several reasons, including:

    • The provider has not yet received the minimum number of patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display. We require a minimum of 10 surveys before we post results to ensure that the rating is statistically reliable and a true reflection of patient satisfaction.
    • He or she may be a researcher or other type of provider that does not see patients.
    • The provider practices in a specialty or office that does not use the specified surveys currently used for these ratings.
