Overview
Danielle Olla, MD, is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Clinical Medical Director of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Dr. Olla provides comprehensive reconstructive care for patients undergoing cancer treatment, with expertise in microsurgical reconstruction. Leveraging advanced fellowship training in hand surgery and microsurgery, she develops individualized treatment plans that restore both form and function following oncologic resection, with a particular focus on upper-extremity reconstruction.
She also specializes in breast reconstruction, offering the full spectrum of reconstructive options, including autologous tissue reconstruction (DIEP, PAP and latissimus dorsi [LD] flaps) and implant-based reconstruction. In addition, she performs immediate lymphatic reconstruction at the time of lymph node dissection to help reduce the risk of lymphedema.
Beyond breast reconstruction, Dr. Olla performs complex microsurgical reconstruction for oncologic defects involving the spine, trunk and extremities, delivering personalized solutions that optimize functional outcomes and quality of life.
Dr. Olla earned her bachelor's degree in physiology, with a minor in dance, from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, before receiving her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix in 2017. She completed an integrated residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Southern Illinois University, where she became the program's first embedded Hand and Microsurgery Fellow, completing fellowship training in 2023. She then completed a Plastic and Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where she also served as the administrative fellow, completing her training in 2024.
