Moffitt at ASTRO
Moffitt Cancer Center’s Radiation Oncology Department is setting the framework to become a national and international leader in the next oncologic revolution. Our program uses state-of-the-art technology and innovative research in fields such as genomics, radiomics, mathematics, physics, machine learning, liquid biopsies, immunology, and data analytics to instill personalized treatment plans that improve patient outcomes and eradicate side effects. Our gifted radiation oncologist covered a variety of radiation advancements in areas such as radiotherapy, Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy, Radiosurgery and much more at the October 23-26, 2022 ASTRO Annual Meeting.

Radiation Oncology Program
Moffitt's accredited Radiation Oncology Program is a collaborative effort of expert radiation oncologists, nursing specialists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists and supportive care professionals.

SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy)
SBRT, or stereotactic body radiation therapy, is a technique in which a carefully programmed system of coordinates is used to deliver narrowly focused, high-dose radiation beams to a solid tumor.

Stereotactic Radiosurgery
Stereotactic radiosurgery is a highly targeted cancer treatment that has been in practice for more than 20 years. Despite its name, it does not require an invasive surgical procedure, but rather a unique, targeted approach to deliver precise high-dose radiation therapy.

IGRT (Image Guided Radiation Therapy
IGRT, or image guided radiation therapy, is a technique in which frequent imaging is used to enhance accuracy throughout the course of a patient’s radiation treatment.

3D CRT (Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiation Therapy)
3D CRT, or three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy, is an advanced technique that incorporates the use of imaging technologies to generate three-dimensional images of a patient’s tumor and nearby organs and tissues.

Radiation Oncology Residency Program
The Radiation Oncology Residency Program at Moffitt Cancer Center is sponsored by the University of South Florida Office of Graduate Medical Education. Moffitt Cancer Center serves as the primary training site and assumes ultimate responsibility for the residency program.
