Patient consulting with a gynecologist

The expanded gynecologic services at Moffitt Cancer Center include the treatment of precancerous lesions of the vulva, vagina, cervix and uterus dysplasia, as well as some benign conditions and genetic risk syndromes. This service allows our specialists to triage potential concerns between our gynecologist and gynecologic oncologists.

Our pre-malignant services include:

  • Workup or biopsy of new gynecologic lesions, hormone replacement therapy or menopausal symptom management for women with non-gynecologic cancer (e.g., breast, colon, lung)
  • Medical and surgical options for women at elevated risk of gynecologic cancer such as BRCA mutation, Lynch syndrome, and family history of gynecologic cancer
  • Gynecologic surgery for benign concerns such as ovarian masses or symptomatic fibroids

The ideal candidates for these services are patients who have questions or concerns regarding work up or management of pre-invasive gynecologic disease, suspicious findings or elevated gynecologic cancer risk.

Referring providers can request an evaluation or a second opinion. We welcome the opportunity to partner with you. We regularly communicate our findings and continually coordinate care to make the process as seamless as possible. Upon completion of treatment, we wish for patients to stay with their local provider for the full spectrum of gynecologic care. These services are not meant to replace the full spectrum of well-woman and gynecologic care patients would receive from their gynecologist or primary care physician.

Invasive cancers will continue to be cared for by our multispecialty team of specialists at the Center for Women’s Oncology. Within a single, convenient location, our patients have access to gynecologic oncologists, a gynecologist, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, genetic counselors, as well as social workers, dietitians, and other supportive care providers. This highly collaborative group comprises a unique Gynecologic Cancer Genetics and Molecular Medicine Tumor Board, which reviews each new patient’s case in-depth and determines the best possible course of treatment for patients.

Contact a physician liaison or complete an online form to refer a patient to Moffitt’s gynecological clinic. We emphasize short referral times and aim to respond to all requests within 24 business hours.
