The Moffitt Medical Group Board oversees the operation of the medical practice of the physicians and other medical professionals who staff the Hospital and who provide clinical research services to the cancer center.

    Victor Young is a Managing Partner and Chief Technology Officer for Morgan Auto Group. Victor has been in the automotive industry for over 30 years having risen through the ranks within several nationwide public automotive groups, including AutoNation. Young is also the Founder & CEO of Dunamis Premium Spirits located in Zephyrhills, Florida. Victor also founded Victor Young Productions, a Florida production company that creates and produces made for television films and series. Victor values community involvement and has volunteered at nonprofit organizations that provide entrepreneurial skills to economically challenged families and at-risk youth. He also values family and spends time flying the friendly skies as a helicopter pilot with his wife Tia, three daughters and two granddaughters.

    For twenty-five years, Michael served as a CEO at Academic Medical Centers and multi-state health systems. He received the “Excellence in Teaching Award” from the Department of Health Services Administration at the University of Florida on four separate occasions. Beginning in 2010, he designed and launched a new, online graduate program in Health Informatics at Kent State University. In 2013, he was honored as “Friend of the Year” by the School of Information at Kent State. In addition to his service on Moffitt’s Hospital board, Michael serves as Board Chair for the PARC Center for Disabilities. He currently teaches Health Informatics students at USF and AI classes at two lifelong learning institutes at Eckerd College. He obtained his B.A. degree in Political Science from Binghamton University and a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Michigan.

    Joedrecka S. Brown Speights, MD, is professor and chair in the Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health at the Florida State University College of Medicine. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and triple board certified in Family Medicine, Obesity Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine. Joedrecka was an inaugural fellow of the George Washington University Leaders for Health Equity International Fellowship, 2018 recipient of the Florida State University Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Service Award, 2021 Gold Humanism Honor Society inductee, and 2024 recipient for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Diversity Award. She recently completed her service nationally as faculty for the AAFP Leading Physician Well-Being Program and member of the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality National Advisory Council. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and her Medical Degree from Emory University School of Medicine before completing the St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency. She and her husband, Gregory, enjoy traveling and spending time with their family and friends; they also pastor in the local community.

    Frank Capitano is a Tampa native. After graduating from Jesuit High School, Frank received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Mercer University. In 1991, Frank joined the family business that his grandfather, Nick Capitano, started in 1931, Radiant Oil Co. of Tampa. The Radiant Group was formed in 1999 and Frank and his brother Joseph are managing members. The Radiant Group is a multi-store franchisee for Dunkin' Donuts and Radiant Express Car Wash. In 2017, the Capitano family and Carlos Alfonso created Alliant Partners Development. Frank and his family are significant contributors to the community through philanthropic donations and volunteer service on multiple boards. Frank continues to serve on the board of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

    Dr. Chung-Bridges is an accomplished leader, physician, and researcher with experience and knowledge in public and community health. In her leadership role at HCN, Dr. Chung- Bridges serves as site PI for more than 30 projects involving health centers and focused on increasing health equity. Dr. Chung-Bridges has held faculty appointments including the UMDNJ School of Public Health, University of Miami, and Florida International University. Dr. Chung-Bridges is a Board-Certified Family Physician who received her Bachelor’s from Harvard, Medical Degree from UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School, completed the Residency Program in Social Medicine at Montefiore in the Bronx, NY, obtained a Master’s of Public Health, Epidemiology Track, from UMDNJ- School of Public Health, and completed a National Research Service Award Primary Care Research Fellowship at UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Chung-Bridges holds a medical license in the state of Florida.

    Dr. Hugo Fernandez is the Chair and Medical Director of the Moffitt Malignant Hematology and Cellular Therapy Department at Memorial Healthcare System. Dr. Fernandez’s clinical and research interests include therapies for acute myeloid and lymphoid disorders, and expanding transplantation for elderly patients. He completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Miami followed by an academic fellowship in blood and marrow transplantation at the University of Texas – MD Anderson Cancer Center. He previously served as vice-chair and clinical director for the Department of Blood & Marrow Transplant and Cellular Immunotherapy at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. Dr. Fernandez has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and is an ad hoc reviewer for various professional journals. He is a member of several medical organizations and serves as a board member for the Moffitt Medical Group.

    Reginald Goins is President and COO of both Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of New York, Inc., and Canada Dry Delaware Valley Bottling Co. He has over 30 years of general management experience within large global corporations and has experience managing sales, operations, marketing, finance, and business development. Reginald has received numerous awards including the 2021 Spirit of New York Award from Volunteers of America as well as Coca-Cola Ambassador to the Olympic Games Canada and Beijing in 2008 & 2010.     Nikhil Khushalani is the Assistant Center Director for Clinical Research Review and Partnerships, and Senior Member and Vice- Chair in the Department of Cutaneous Oncology at Moffitt. He is an experienced clinical investigator with expertise in immunotherapy and molecular therapy in skin cancer. His clinical research is focused on treatment for refractory melanoma, treating uveal melanoma, and squamous cell carcinoma working with ideas from laboratory research at Moffitt to translate into the clinic. Nikhil earned his M.D. from Topiwala National Medical College, University of Bombay, India. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the State University of New York, Buffalo where he also served as chief resident. Nikhil completed a Medical Oncology Fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY in 2002. He has held committee positions with ASCO and NCCN, served as a grant reviewer for NIH/NCI/DOD, and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

    H. Lee Moffitt is a former Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and the founder of Moffitt Cancer Center. A Tampa native, Lee received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida and his Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law. He chaired the Commerce Committee and the House Reapportionment Committee before being elected Speaker of the House. Lee has received numerous honors and distinctions, some of which are the Leadership Florida Lifetime Achievement Award, the Florida Trend’s Florida Icon Award, Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the Florida Board of Regents, BioFlorida’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the H. L. Culbreath Jr. Profile in Leadership Award in 2022 and most recently, 2025 Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the Tampa Metro Civitan’s. Lee actively serves on boards and committees in the public and private sectors, including Florida’s I-4 High Tech Corridor Council. He is president of H. Lee Moffitt, P.A., a government relations law firm in Tampa.

    Mike O’Malley is president and managing member of OMA, LLC, a commodity consulting firm for seminars and trading services. Mike was a Member of the Chicago Board of Trade, where he traded commodities, specializing in the 30-year Bond Pit. Mike served on several committees at the Chicago Board of Trade. Mike was also president and Executive Director of Abacus, Inc. where he was responsible for recruiting, hiring, and managing over 350 educators throughout 16 states. Mike is a sophisticated investor — a First Stage Angel Investor since 1990. He has been involved with several initial public offerings in the technology, life sciences and environment sectors. Additionally, Mike is a commercial real estate investor with experience in projects in Wisconsin, Texas, Illinois, and Florida. In the 1980’s, Mike was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 6th round and later pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers for two years before his baseball career ended from injury. Mike attended Kansas State University where he earned a degree in business administration.

    Bob Perez received his DDS degree from Louisiana School of Dentistry in 1976. He served our nation in the U.S. Army Dental Corps where he completed his mini residency in general dentistry. He owned and practiced dentistry in North Tampa for 41 years. He retired from private practice in June 2020. Bob is an adjunct professor at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dentistry since January 2016 to present. Bob is a member of numerous professional dental associations and volunteers his dentistry skills through La Victoria Mission in the Dominican Republic, Christina Smiles, Lowry Park Zoo, Judeo-Christian Clinic and St. Suzanne Mission in Haiti. Bob has received numerous honors and awards such as Fellow in American Academy of General Dentistry and Rotarian of the Year.

    Mark Pizzo is a retired United States Magistrate Judge with the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida from May 1995 until July 2018. A Tampa native, Mark received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from Loyola University, New Orleans, Louisiana. He was awarded the Federal Bar Association’s George C. Carr Memorial Award for excellence in federal practice and distinguished service to The Federal Bar, and he is a master and organizing member of the Herbert G. Goldburg – Ronald K. Cacciatore Criminal Law Inn of Court. In addition to serving on Moffitt Cancer Center’s Hospital and Moffitt Medical Group Boards, Mark is also actively involved in Moffitt’s Patient and Family Advisory Council.

Susan T. Vadaparampil, PhD, MPHSusan T. Vadaparampil, PhD, MPH

Associate Center Director for Community Outreach & Engagement

    Susan is the Associate Center Director for Community Outreach and Engagement and a Senior Member in the Health Outcomes and Behavior Program in the Division of Population Sciences at Moffitt Cancer Center. Her work is influenced by transdisciplinary collaboration, focused on health disparities, and contributes to scientific literature and clinical practice. Her current research focuses on breast and cervical cancer prevention/early detection, reproductive health among adolescent and young adult cancer patients, and increasing participation in clinical trials. She has been funded since 2006 through research grants from organizations such as the NIH and the American Cancer Society. Susan has published over 340 scientific manuscripts. She serves as the Program Co-Director for Moffitt’s Behavioral Oncology T32 Post-Doctoral Training Program. In 2020, Susan was appointed to the National Cancer Advisory Board and in 2023 became the Co-Chair of the American Cancer Society Roundtable on Cervical Cancer.
