Cancer Focus: Hodgkin Lymphoma, Leukemia, Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Dr. Chavez is an Associate Member in the Lymphoma Section of the Department of Malignant Hematology at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Chavez earned his MD from the Medical School at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He completed his residency in Hematology at Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins/Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He did his Internal Medicine training at the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York and completed his Medical Oncology training at the University of South Florida/Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Chavez is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. His focus of clinical and research interests is in lymphoid malignancies, specifically aggressive lymphomas, virally-related lymphoid malignancies and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He also has interest in acute lymphoblastic leukemia in the elderly. He is currently Principal Investigator in several clinical trials using targeted agents and immunotherapy. He is not only well versed in standard therapies, but he is an active participant in clinical research; and therefore, is able to offer his patients and their families the best treatment options tailored specifically to each patient.
