TAMPA, Fla. — A growing number of men in the Tampa Bay area don’t have access to regular health care services. That’s why Moffitt Cancer Center and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing free health screenings to the Jackson Heights NFL YET Center on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Men’s Health Huddle will provide screenings and evaluations for qualifying men of all ages beginning at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free.

“The Men’s Health Huddle is a unique opportunity for men in and around the Tampa Bay area to learn about cancer prevention and get appropriate screenings for a number of health-related issues,” said Kenisha Avery, manager of Moffitt’s Office of Community Outreach, Engagement and Equity. “It is a way for health care professionals to work directly with men who may otherwise not have access to quality health care.”

The Men’s Health Huddle is presented by Moffitt and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will run from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Educational sessions and screenings are available beginning at 11:30 a.m.

“This event also provides an excellent forum for our researchers to share work and opportunities to participate in research that addresses health disparities among Black men such as prostate cancer and multiple myeloma,” said Dr. Susan Vadaparampil, associate director for Community Outreach, Engagement and Equity.
