TAMPA, Fla. – Merritt Martin, director of Public Affairs at Moffitt Cancer Center, is one of the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 2018 BusinessWoman of the Year honorees. Martin is one of 27 woman chosen from the 300 nominations. The award, now in its 14th year, highlights excellence among female business executives across the Tampa Bay region.

Martin, who has been with Moffitt for more than a decade, advocates for the cancer center and its patients before the State Legislature and the executive branch.

“Merritt is an integral part of our Government Relations Department. She has cultivated long-lasting relationships with our state legislators and continues to educate lawmakers and the community about the groundbreaking research and treatments that have made Moffitt the No. 8 cancer hospital in the country,” said Jamie Wilson, vice president of Government Relations at Moffitt.

Martin received a Bachelor of Arts degree and a master’s of Public Administration from the University of South Florida and is the chair of its Alumni Board of Directors. She has also been named Young Professional of the Year by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, “40 under 40” by the Business Observer and a Tampa Bay “Up and Comer.”
