TAMPA, Fla.Moffitt Cancer Center has been named one of the Tampa Bay Top Workplaces for 2020 by the Tampa Bay Times. This is the 10th time Moffitt has made the list. The Top Workplaces list includes 100 companies based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by the Tampa Bay Times’ research partner Energage, LLC, a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution and connection.

“Our Moffitt team members are dedicated to our mission — to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer — and are committed to our patients,” said Mariana Bugallo-Muros, chief human resources officer at Moffitt.  “In turn, we are committed to them and strive to create an environment where they can thrive.  It is an honor to learn that based on their feedback, we’ve been recognized as a Top Workplace employer for the 10th time.”

Through career development opportunities, team member awards, wellness programs and comprehensive benefits packages, the cancer center understands the importance of investing in and valuing its team members. Moffitt also conducts an annual team member survey to gather regular feedback and identify areas of opportunity. Quarterly town hall meetings connect leadership and team members face-to-face to foster open dialogue.

“For more than a decade, the Top Workplaces award has helped organizations stand out among their competitors to attract talent,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage. “This differentiation is more important than ever in today’s tight labor market. Establishing a continuous conversation with employees so you have a deep understanding of your unique culture is proven to help achieve higher referral rates, lower employee turnover and double the employee engagement levels. No longer is recognition simply a much-deserved cause for celebration, but it’s fast becoming mission-critical to establish a competitive advantage for recruitment and retention.”

Moffitt is also a Top 10 cancer hospital in the nation, based on U.S. News & World Report. The cancer center is recognized for its commitment to diversity and inclusion and is a DiversityInc Top 10 Hospital and a leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality. Moffitt also has earned the Magnet designation in recognition of its nursing excellence.
