Moffitt Cancer Center Physician Admitted into American College of Surgeons Academy of Master Surgeon Educators ™
TAMPA, Fla. — Jason Fleming, M.D., chair of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Program at Moffitt Cancer Center, is among 83 esteemed surgical educators inducted into membership in the American College of Surgeons Academy of Master Surgeon Educators ™.
Fleming has been a surgical educator for more than 20 years and his interest in the field has focused on developing a curriculum that equips surgeons with the tools necessary for a successful career. He is now using skills he has learned during his longstanding participation in American College of Surgeons programs to train the next generation of surgical oncologists in the relatively new field of complex general surgical oncology.
“Having been involved for decades in the education of surgical trainees at all levels, it is a real honor to be recognized by the leaders in this field,” said Fleming. “I also believe that my induction into the academy is recognition of the excellence of our graduate medical education programs here at Moffitt Cancer Center and am thankful for the support provided by the institution.”
Developed by the American College of Surgeons Division of Education, the academy recognizes surgeon educators who have devoted their careers to surgical education. Individuals are selected following stringent peer review.
