TAMPA, Fla. – Kelley Gonzalvo, DNP, MSN, RN, CCRN-K, has been named Moffitt Cancer Center’s new vice president and chief nursing officer. In her new role, Gonzalvo will work with nursing leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives that improve the quality of care delivered to Moffitt patients. She will oversee the continuing education and developmental needs of the nursing teams. She will meet with patients, families, team members and physicians to ensure nursing operations result in exemplary patient care, nursing policies and procedures are consistent with regulatory standards. She will help create an environment that encourages recruitment and retention of nursing staff. She will also work with nursing leadership to ensure compliance with Nursing Magnet accreditation.

During her tenure at Moffitt, Gonzalvo has been instrumental in the successful opening of the Immune Cell Therapy inpatient and outpatient unit, the development and implementation of a controlled substance diversion program that The Joint Commission has recognized as a best practice and the development of a COVID-19 surge plan for critical care. She has more than 30 years of experience in nursing, with 21 years in nursing leadership.

Gonzalvo has a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a master’s in nursing education and a bachelor’s in nursing. In addition, she holds a Critical Care Knowledge Professional certification. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership.
