2019 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rookie Class to Go Trick-or-Treating Through Moffitt Cancer Center
TAMPA, Fla. — Rookie members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including Mike Edwards, Matt Gay, Scotty Miller and Sean Murphy-Bunting, are bringing the NFL experience to students from Redlands Christian Migrant Association Leadership Academy, Franklin Boys Preparatory Academy Middle School and Sligh Middle Magnet School on Oct. 29.
Moffitt Cancer Center’s lawn will transform into a makeshift football field where students from the Healthy KIDZ Program at Moffitt will learn flag football fundamentals as part of the Jr. Bucs Middle School Flag Football Program. Through the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation, the program aims to enhance the flag football curriculum for nearly 70,000 middle school students in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties by providing flag kits, equipment and instruction throughout each school year.
The Dairy Council of Florida will also provide nutritious snacks and drinks for the kids to fuel up on after they hit the field.
Healthy KIDZ at Moffitt Cancer Center is an innovative health education program that teaches students the importance of healthy nutrition, exercise and the dangers of smoking. Students will learn more about cancer prevention before hitting the gridiron for a pewter practice with the Bucs.
The Bucs rookies will also bring some tricks and treats to the cancer center as they visit patients. This portion of the event will be closed to the media; however, footage of the player-patient interaction will be provided.
