Screening Mammogram at Moffitt

Moffitt doctors review a patient's screening mammography files

Mammography remains the gold standard in breast cancer screening and the only test proven to reduce breast cancer related mortality in large population-based studies. To maximize the number of lives saved, Moffitt Cancer Center recommends annual screening mammography beginning at age 40 for women at average risk.

Consistent with the ACS recommendations, Moffitt supports a woman’s right to choose when to begin screening mammography and the screening interval, provided she is well informed by her doctor about the benefits and drawbacks.

The fellowship-trained radiologists at Moffitt are skilled and experienced in performing the latest breast cancer screening techniques. Our comprehensive screening services are complemented by individualized advice, breakthrough treatments, and compassionate support from a multispecialty team that specializes exclusively in breast cancer.

No referral is necessary to schedule a breast screening appointment at Moffitt. A diagnostic mammogram is a more in-depth test and does require a physician referral. To refer a patient to Moffitt, call 1-888-663-3488, complete our online form or contact a physician liaison.
