On Saturday, October 5, the Moffitt Cancer Center Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Immunotherapy Department held a patient reunion. The event was focused on celebrating survivorship and coincided with the 35th anniversary of the program.

More than 700 people gathered together at the JW Marriott Tampa, including patients, family members, caregivers, transplant donors and Moffitt team members. Several providers presented the history of the program and advances in therapies, including cellular immunotherapies such as chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy, or CAR T. They also discussed insights into the future of transplant and cellular immunotherapy, for which Moffitt continues to be a world leader.

Patients, caregivers and donors shared their inspiring stories of life after transplant and immunotherapy, recognizing and celebrating a common bond as survivors. In the afternoon, there were two special reunions where patients met their lifesaving donors for the first time. Both donors traveled from out of state to meet their recipients.
