The annual Cancer PhD Student Welcome Reception was held on Sept. 13.

September 13 marked the annual Cancer PhD Student Welcome Reception, an event held in collaboration with the Research Education and Training office at Moffitt Cancer Center and the University of South Florida Molecular Biosciences (MBS) Department.

The new fall 2024 cohort of 12 Cancer PhD students was welcomed and a guest alumni speaker, Dr. Emily L. Hopewell (a Moffitt/USF Cancer Biology PhD Graduate in 2012), was invited to share her career journey with the students.

Dr. Hopewell is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical and Molecular Genetics and Director of Cell, Gene Therapy Manufacturing at Indiana University School of Medicine, and Chief Operations Officer at Brown Center for Immunotherapy. Following the inspiring talk, the Outstanding Research Awards were announced. It was a great opportunity for the Moffitt PhD students and faculty to network and socialize with their academic department colleagues at USF.
