Subaru employees presenting check

Subaru of Fort Myers made a $51,000 gift in April to the George Edgecomb Society and health disparities research, culminating from its participation in the national Share the Love campaign that occurred from November 2021 through February 2022.

Victor Young, GES Steering Committee member, suggested to the Subaru team that the George Edgecomb Society at Moffitt be a beneficiary. “Unfortunately, cancer touches the lives of so many of our team members at Subaru, and we recognize that the best treatments are not always available to everyone who needs them,” said Fred Merrill, district sales manager. “Equity is a priority for our company, and we could think of no better way to show our support than to direct funds to cancer health disparity research at Moffitt.”

Merrill, along with Steven Reisinger, general sales manager, presented the gift to Dr. B. Lee Green, senior member, Health Outcomes and Behavior Department, and Lorrin Rucker, associate director of Health Equity and GES. At the check presentation, Dr. Green shared his sentiments. "I am so grateful for Subaru's investment in GES and the important work of Moffitt’s faculty. We are honored to have Subaru of Fort Myers as a new partner and look forward to continuing this mission-critical work."
