TAMPA, Fla. – Moffitt Cancer Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Rouse to its national Board of Advisors. Rouse is chairman and CEO of Berkshire Biomedical LLC based in Dallas.

“We are thrilled to have Tom join this group and bring his expertise in both the financial and biomedical field,” said Bob Griese, chair of Moffitt’s Board of Advisors and former Miami Dolphins Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback. “He has a passion for Moffitt’s mission, and he will be a great asset to the board.”

Rouse began his career in credit card operations substantially contributing to the design and development of the first national electronic funds transfer (EFT) system. Rouse helped found both Affiliated Computer Systems Inc. and TransFirst, serving as chairman and CEO of the latter company, a credit card financial technology firm.

In early 2015, Rouse teamed with two former associates of TransFirst to form R Squared Capital LLC, a financial technology-focused private equity firm. Investments to date have been made in the financial technology, real estate, retail and manufacturing industries. In 2016, Rouse founded Berkshire Biomedical, whose products combine drug dispensing devices with management software to enhance tracking and control of the patient prescription cycle.

Rouse joins 34 other prominent figures on Moffitt’s National Board of Advisors.
