TAMPA, Fla. — Robert Rothman, co-owner of the NFL’s Washington Redskins and chairman and CEO of Tampa-based Black Diamond Group, Inc., has been appointed to the national Board of Advisors at Moffitt Cancer Center. Rothman’s appointment brings the total number of members on the board to 36.

Rothman has had a long relationship with Moffitt. Previously he served as a member of Moffitt’s Board of Directors from 2000-2019 and was the past chair of Moffitt’s Institute Board of Directors from 2008-2016.

“We are thrilled to have Bob join this group and bring his expertise in finance and investment,” said Bob Griese, chair of Moffitt’s Board of Advisors and former Dolphins Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback. “He has a passion for Moffitt’s mission, and he will be a great asset to the board.”

Rothman began his career in the financial services industry working with Ernst & Young. From 1987 to 1999 Rothman was chairman of the board and CEO of Consolidated International Group, Inc., which owned and operated insurance companies in Europe and North America. In 1999, Rothman founded his Black Diamond Group, Inc., a private investment company to evaluate and manage private equity investments on a direct and indirect basis.

Rothman earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Queens College of the City University of New York and his MBA in finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has been a member of the Chicago Booth School of Business Advisory Council since 1999.
