Moffitt Cancer Center’s Chief Information Security Officer Named as a Fellow to America’s Cybersecurity Think Tank
TAMPA, Fla. (Aug. 20, 2018) — Moffitt Cancer Center’s chief information security officer will join an elite group of experts charged with protecting and enhancing national cybersecurity. Dave Summitt has been named a Fellow of the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT), the nation’s leading cybersecurity think tank. The institute focuses on safeguarding national security, economic security, and national public health and safety under the Department of Homeland Security. As an ICIT Fellow, Summitt will share his expertise with the cyber and national security community by participating in thought leadership and educational engagements.

Millions of cyberattacks happen every day and they cost the global economy more than $400 billion a year. Each month, new security threats bombard computer networks around the globe, and the health care field continues to be a prime target. Summitt says hackers are constantly changing their strategies and getting more sophisticated every day.
ICIT provides objective, nonpartisan advisory to the Senate, House of Representatives, and federal government leaders in civilian, defense and intelligence agencies. Research conducted in ICIT’s labs, and distributed through its publications, is used by United States leaders, embassies, allied governments, and critical infrastructure operators around the globe.

Summitt has been with Moffitt since 2015. He has more than 30 years of experience in the technology field, with over 13 years working directly in cybersecurity.
