Moffitt Cancer Center Names Ken Komorny as the New Vice President of Pharmacy
TAMPA, Fla. — Kenneth Komorny, Pharm.D., B.C.P.S., has been named Moffitt Cancer Center’s new vice president and chief pharmacy officer. In his new role, Komorny will lead Moffitt’s pharmacy enterprise, developing best practices to provide the highest level of pharmacy care. He also will manage the planning and execution of projects that include a medications and pharmacy services perspective.
In his previous role, Komorny served as Moffitt’s chief pharmacy officer and was responsible for overseeing all pharmacy services, including multiple hospital-based outpatient infusion centers, specialty pharmacy, clinical services and investigational drug services. He brings more than 13 years of pharmacy leadership experience to his new role.
“Ken has done an exceptional job leading Moffitt’s pharmacy department for the past four years. Under his leadership we have developed the best in class specialty pharmacy, as well as had significant improvements in the financial health of the pharmacy department,” said Sabi Singh, Moffitt’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We are excited to see his future plans for the pharmacy unfold, which will lead to the highest level of patient care.”
Before joining Moffitt, Komorny served as the associate chair in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida and as the assistant director of Pharmacy Services for UF Health Shands Hospital.
Komorny has a doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Toledo.
He is a member of several societies including the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association and the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology. He leads various committees with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and is faculty in the Pharmacy Leadership Academy of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and gives leadership lectures.
