Moffitt Cancer Center has appointed Chip Fletcher, Esq., as the new Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. He brings 20 years of progressive experience from the public and private sectors, which will be critical to protecting and growing the cancer center.

“With a complex health care landscape that’s continually changing and evolving, Chip’s expertise will help navigate success for Moffitt,” said L. David de la Parte, executive vice president and general counsel. “He’s no stranger to the cancer center, having represented our organization previously in the private sector. That, coupled with his rich experience, makes him an invaluable asset.”

Fletcher previously was the Hillsborough County attorney, and his office represented the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and county government over the past five years. He also managed the Hillsborough County legal department of 60 lawyers and support staff.

Prior to joining Hillsborough County, Fletcher was in private practice with GrayRobinson, P.A. where he represented private and public clients before federal, state and local governmental agencies. He also served as general counsel for the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority.

Fletcher served as city attorney for the City of Tampa from 2008 through 2011 and was on the Tampa City Council from December 2006 through March 2007. Early in his career, he also served as a policy analyst for the Florida House of Representatives and practiced law at de la Parte & Gilbert, P.A. where Fletcher supported the firm in representing the cancer center.

Fletcher is board certified in state and federal government and administrative practice. He earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Florida State University College of Law.

Fletcher will join Moffitt in May 2018.
