TAMPA, Fla.  Moffitt Cancer Center has announced the hire of Maria Muller as its executive vice president, chief philanthropy officer and Foundation president.

In this role, Muller will advance and execute the strategic vision for philanthropy at Moffitt, working closely with executive leadership to identify and define the institution’s fundraising aspirations and priorities.

“Maria’s range of experiences, leadership skills and impeccable character make her a perfect fit to lead the Moffitt Foundation at an important time of transition,” said Dr. Alan List, president and CEO of Moffitt Cancer Center. “We are pleased to welcome Maria to our Moffitt team and have her lead our philanthropic efforts,” he added.

With more than 20 years of experience in fundraising and development, Muller joins Moffitt from Boston, where she was deputy director of the Museum of Fine Arts and most recently consulted with the Harvard Art Museums. She brings a proven track record of successful fundraising both domestically and abroad, having spent the earlier part of her career in development at The British Museum and The National Gallery in London.

A veteran fundraiser, Muller will work closely with executive leadership to advance the institution’s fundraising priorities, particularly in the areas of the comprehensive campaigns and national fundraising. Her diverse background and leadership experience will undoubtedly help to expand Moffitt’s philanthropic efforts in new, innovative ways.

“I am thrilled to be joining such a deeply mission-driven organization that is having a significant impact on cancer care and research,” said Muller.  “It’s a tremendous honor to be leading a team that is building ever-greater philanthropic support to improve cancer outcomes and move closer to a cure.”

Muller holds a Bachelor of Arts in politics, philosophy and history from the University of London. She joined Moffitt on Dec. 3.
