TAMPA, Fla. — Friday, Oct. 4, will be a historic day for Panera Bread and Moffitt Cancer Center. It marks the 10th consecutive year that the two organizations have teamed up locally to promote breast cancer awareness and raise money for Moffitt’s breast cancer mammography program.

“Funding from Panera Goes Pink literally saves lives since it funds our outreach efforts to educate at-risk women throughout the greater Tampa Bay community,” said Cathy Grant, senior director of Moffitt Diversity. “It’s so important to remind women about early detection while linking uninsured women to no-cost mammograms.”

Over the past decade, Moffitt has received more than $131,100 in donations from the Panera Goes Pink event. In all, 24 Tampa Bay-area Panera bakery-cafes will donate 100% of the proceeds from each Pink Ribbon Bagel sold to Moffitt. In addition, all proceeds collected in the Operation Dough-Nation Community Breadboxes found at these Panera locations throughout the month of October will also benefit Moffitt.

“Our 10-year partnership with Moffitt Cancer Center is more than a milestone; it is a true testament to our customers’ unwavering support over the past decade” said Kevin Ricci, owner of Covelli Family Limited Partnership, franchisee of Panera, LLC. “The Panera Goes Pink campaign is truly a group effort and goes hand in hand with Moffitt’s commitment to work tirelessly to advance one step further in fighting this disease.”

Each Pink Ribbon Bagel includes cherry chips, dried cherries, cranberries, vanilla, honey, and brown sugar, and is baked fresh each morning by Panera’s bakers at each bakery-cafe.
