Moffitt Cancer Center at Magnolia

TAMPA, Fla.— Ed Mullen has been appointed to Moffitt Cancer Center’s national Board of Advisors, a growing group of prominent individuals who serve as Moffitt ambassadors and offer their expertise and counsel on issues relating to the cancer center.

Mullen is a successful entrepreneur turned investor. He is chairman of Beacon Equity Partners LLC and Beacon Real Estate Partners LLC, based in Boston. Prior to Beacon, he had been CEO, president and chairman of five technology companies, both public and private. Mullen also was an adjunct professor at Boston College’s School of Management. A resident of Naples, he established the Pan-Florida Challenge in 2013, a 180-mile charity bike ride to raise money to help feed hungry children across Florida. Six years later, Mullen wanted to address the link between poor nutrition and the risk of developing cancer and implement preventive strategies. Today, the organization partners with Moffitt and local cancer organizations to fund cancer prevention research, education and patient support.

“Ed’s philanthropic work is a true example of his passion for cancer prevention. He has a deep appreciation for what it takes to cure cancer, and we’re so pleased that he is bringing that dedication to our Moffitt team,” said Bob Griese, chair of Moffitt’s Board of Advisors and former Miami Dolphins Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback.

Mullen joins 36 prominent individuals from across the nation on Moffitt’s national Board of Advisors.
