WHO: Moffitt Cancer Center and the World Health Organization (WHO)

WHAT: Moffitt is partnering with the WHO to illuminate the international health organization’s global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer. Buildings in downtown Tampa, including the Rivergate Tower and SunTrust Financial Centre, will light up in teal in support of the cause.

Cervical cancer is one cancer the world can eliminate. The WHO’s strategy is, by 2030, to have all countries achieve:

  • 90% HPV vaccination coverage
  • 70% screening coverage
  • 90% access to treatment for cervical pre-cancer and cancer

Anna Giuliano, Ph.D., founding director of the Center for Immunization and Infection Research in Cancer at Moffitt, is available for interviews.
