What is a Visiting Scholar?

  • A professor at a foreign university.

    • Immunology
    • Molecular Biology
    • Tumor Biology

Dry Lab - A lab environment that uses computational elements and data collection to draw conclusions.

How can you become a Visiting Scholar?

Moffitt does not provide placement services for potential trainees. Prospective visiting scholars are required to reach out to potential mentors based on their own interests. Search our Research section for mentors and get better acquainted with their work. Once they gain approval to join the lab, their mentor reaches out to our office. We will send the appropriate application directly to the student. Please do not submit an application without having a mentor, we will not be able to process it. After the application is received and approved, the student is put into contact with Moffitt’s Human Resources and Immigration departments, who will collect all required documentation. The onboarding process for visiting scholars takes more time than for a research trainee, due to the immigration process. Expect this process to take six-eight weeks, but this depends largely on how quickly the paperwork is received from the applicant.
