USF Health Scholars group tours Moffitt

On April 19, the Population Science Division and the Research Education & Training office at Moffitt Cancer Center, hosted the University of South Florida (USF) Health Scholars. The USF Health Scholars is a group of undergraduate students who focus on visiting Tampa Bay institutions to learn about various career opportunities in public health.

The group toured the research kitchen, smoking rooms, exercise lab, genomics core and the HPV lab. Afterward, the students attended a panel with several Moffitt research faculty members, a post-doctoral fellow and a clinical research coordinator. The panelists spoke on their own experiences navigating their career journeys, how they overcame any trials along the way, the different pathways available to the students both short term and long term and much more.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Christine Vinci and Dr. Jessica Islam for their continued support and to everyone who volunteered their time and efforts to make the event a success!
