Researcher during the Great American Teach-In

The Great American Teach-In provides the opportunity for working professionals to share their careers with children in grades K-12. On Nov. 16, Moffitt researchers participated at several schools in the surrounding area to spread knowledge about cancer prevention, cancer care and cancer research.

The Research Diversity & Workforce Development (RDWD), Research Education & Training (RET), and Community Outreach, Engagement, & Equity (COEE) teams worked together to provide a structured way for Moffitt faculty and trainees to easily volunteer and get out in the community.

The impact of the Great American Teach-In is conveyed in this message that one of the Moffitt participants received, “it means so much when members of the community come and spend time with the students. Sometimes it is the motivation they need, and it is good to see real-world connections from experts, as opposed to just hearing examples from the teacher.”

We can’t wait to grow this initiative in the future!
