Moffitt Virtual Visits

A new way to connect with your providers

Moffitt patients can receive top-notch, Moffitt-quality care without leaving the comfort of home. New and established patients can interact with clinical care teams through face-to-face video appointments using their computer or via a mobile device. You do not have to wait to be seen because of COVID-19.

Virtual Visits are offered by medical oncologists, surgeons, advanced practice professionals (APP), nurses and non-clinical providers such as genetic counselors, and dietitians.

If a patient is recommended to have further testing or imaging scans done after a virtual visit, rest assured Moffitt Cancer Center is committed to the health and safety of our patients, their families and our team members. In response to COVID-19, we are taking all necessary precautions consistent with the advice from the CDC.  Moffitt is the safest place for cancer patients to receive the highest level of diagnostic imaging and radiology services. We offer the latest technologies for tumor detection and staging. As a result, we have the ability to detect even the rarest cancers in their earliest stages, a key step in improving patient outcomes.  All exams are performed by licensed technologists with advanced registration in their specialty.

Who can use Virtual Visits?

Virtual Visits are open to new and established patients.

If you are a new patient, we can schedule your virtual visit as a placeholder in preparation for a review by the clinical team. A clinical team member will review your records to determine if a virtual visit is an appropriate option.

Moffitt also offers Virtual Visits services for established patients who are determined eligible by their care team.

Will I be charged for my Virtual Visits?

Your out-of-pocket costs for virtual visits will depend on insurance benefits, if applicable. Not all health plans provide coverage for virtual visits so you should check with your plan to determine your specific coverage. If the service is covered, Moffitt will bill in the same manner as a face-to-face office visit. You will receive a statement from us for any applicable co-pays. If you are a self-pay patient, you will receive a statement from us with the charges for your visit. If you have any billing and financial inquiries or would like to discuss  financing or financial assistance options, please contact Moffitt Customer Service at 1-800-456-3434 ext. 8422.

Can I get a prescription through Virtual Visits?

Yes, the visit allows for appropriate prescribing based on the provider’s evaluation.

Is Virtual Visits available outside the state of Florida?

Due to COVID-19, state restrictions have been lifted. We're able to offer care to patients in Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Washington, DC and West Virginia.

Which providers offer this option?

This service is offered by Moffitt medical oncologists, surgeons, advanced practice professionals (APP), nurses and clinicians such as genetic counselors and dietitians. 

How do I know if I’m eligible to use this service?

Moffitt knows each patient has unique needs for their care.  Ask your providers and clinical team if you are eligible for services to be delivered from an alternative location.

If you are a new patient, a clinical team member will review your records to determine if a virtual visit is an appropriate option.

Does Moffitt offer translation services during Virtual Visits?

Yes, video translation services are available.

What equipment do I need?

You will need a computer with Google Chrome or a mobile device with an internet connection. If your device doesn’t have a built-in microphone and webcam, you will need those as well.

Are virtual visits secure?

Yes. Our cybersecurity and IT teams have worked diligently to vet and configure Moffitt’s corporate account to safeguard against any threat. Moffitt has hosted more than 40,000 Zoom meetings since January with no security incidents to report. To further enhance the security of your virtual visit, you will be given a unique identification number and password for each appointment.
