Oropharyngeal Study

Oropharyngeal highlighted in throat

Summary: The Oropharyngeal (OPC) study is a case-control study designed to improve early cancer detection for patients with cancer of the base of the tongue, soft palate, or tonsil. The case individuals in this research study have OPC cancers and control individuals do not have a cancer history. Moffitt researchers hope to detect (OPC) cancers earlier by using a simple oral gargle test because when OPC cancer is diagnosed at early stages, HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer is highly treatable. We invite all non-patient communities and healthy individuals to join the OPC research opportunity.

What does it take: A one-time visit to Moffitt Research Building at 13131 USF Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612. If you decide to take part in this study, you will be asked to come to our clinic to complete an informed consent short questionnaire online (a paper questionnaire option will be provided) and provide blood, saliva and oral rinse samples. The expected commitment time for this visit will be approximately 45 minutes and you will be compensated for your time.

ACT WParticipant in the ACT Wonders studyONDERS Study

Summary: Project ACT WONDERS study is focused on increasing referral and enrollment of patients who are Black and Hispanic in therapeutic clinical trials, as they have been historically underrepresented.

What does it take: As a first step to refining the intervention, the study team is conducting a series of interviews with key stakeholders, such as Black and Hispanic Moffitt patients. The study team would like to learn about your thoughts and experiences with therapeutic clinical trials.
