The work environments in the Perioperative Services departments at Moffitt Cancer Center are designed to provide nurses with the training and ability to perform skilled, critical actions to meet the unique needs of each patient. Moffitt empowers its nurses to develop the expertise and special skills required for providing the best patient care possible in the Endoscopy Center, main Operating Room and Procedure Suites.
The Perioperative Service consists of 16 full-service operating rooms, Pre-Anesthesia Assessment and Pre-op holding areas. The Endoscopy Center has five fully equipped rooms to accommodate diagnostic and advanced procedures, as well as a separate area for pre-op assessment and post-op care. Various procedures are performed in the Procedure Suites, including pain management, venous access devices and bone marrow biopsies.
