The Clinical Research Unit at Moffitt
The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) at Moffitt Cancer Center is where patients come to receive their investigational product (IP) treatments. The CRU conducts multiple clinical trials of different phases. We are equipped to offer the latest research in a few convenient locations. Our CRU also can provide supportive care -- for example blood and platelet transfusions, hydration therapy, intravenous antibiotic infusions, and injections. The facility also features the following amenities:
- Wireless Internet access for your laptop or handheld device
- Pillows and blankets
- Drinks and sandwiches
Located in the Muriel Rothman Building on Moffitt’s Magnolia campus, 12902 USF Magnolia Drive, Tampa, our Magnolia CRU is easily accessible. You can leave your vehicle with our Gold Valet; once you have entered the building, take Elevator B to the third floor, make a left and follow the hallway down to the clinic. A team member will assist you with check-in and registration. The Magnolia CRU is has 9 chairs, 7 beds and 4 phlebotomy chairs. We are open Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Our research services are also available at Moffitt Cancer Center at International Plaza, 4101 Jim Walter Blvd., Tampa, and the McKinley Outpatient Center, 10920 N. McKinley Drive, Tampa. The McKinley CRU has four chairs, three beds, and two phlebotomy chairs and is open from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
An investigational product is a new option for cancer treatment that can be taken by mouth, given intravenously, or via injection. The goal of the therapy is to benefit from the scientific progress that has the potential to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life. There are many different medications that can be used for this purpose, and many different cancers that can benefit from clinical research.
