Following a cancer diagnosis, the completion of treatment and everything in between, many people discover that their priorities change in multiple ways. Some feel more inspired to live each day to the fullest, value their relationships with "co-survivors" (family members and friends who were there for them throughout the journey) and just appreciate the “little things” in life a lot more.

Oftentimes, positive feelings like these are complicated by uncertainties about the future; specifically, how to live beyond cancer and come to terms with the ongoing possibility of a recurrence. Additionally, when cancer treatment – including regular contact with a supportive health care team – comes to an end, a patient might even experience a sense of loss.

With a commitment to fully supporting our patients through the transition from treatment to survivorship, Moffitt Cancer Center established a comprehensive Survivorship Clinic, which serves as a model for other cancer survivorship programs nationwide. To help cancer survivors lead healthy, happy and active lives, we offer a variety of services, including:

  • Individualized screening recommendations and prevention strategies for recurrent and new cancers
  • Continual monitoring for and management of late and residual effects of the primary cancer
  • Education on healthy lifestyle practices, including nutritional support and fitness programs
  • Counseling and emotional support to help address fears of recurrence and other concerns

At Moffitt, we understand that cancer and its treatment can have significant and lasting effects on a survivor’s physical and mental health. Our goal is to help survivors understand and deal with these effects as they adjust to life without cancer.

Whether you’re a current or past Moffitt patient, an adult survivor of a childhood cancer or a survivor who was treated years ago at another cancer center, you are welcome to consult with the experts in Moffitt’s Survivorship Clinic. We’re here to support you in every way possible – physically, emotionally and otherwise – for as long as you need us.
