Moffitt Cancer Center held a flag-raising ceremony in recognition of Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 10. Moffitt team members and members of the community came together to honor veterans - both retired and active-duty. The tribute included an inspirational performance by the Moffitt choir and Freedom High School’s Navy Junior ROTC Color Guard presenting the colors and raising the flag.
Those in attendance were also honored to share the morning with cancer survivor and Pearl Harbor survivor George E. Kondas who recounted his personal story from the U.S.S. Tracy during the Pearl Harbor attack.
“From a veteran's perspective, it provides an opportunity for us to join our fellow Americans and reflect. Perhaps more importantly, it provides an opportunity for us to look forward and determine how we may continue to serve,” says retired Col. Daniel C. Hodne, USA, and Moffitt team member.
