Derrick Brooks knows defense.
The Hall of Fame former Tampa Bay Buccaneer (now President of the Tampa Bay Storm) holds an NFL Defensive Player of the Year title as well as that 2003 Super Bowl ring.
So when he talks defense against cancer, Moffitt is counting on people to listen. Brooks agreed to be one of three spokespersons for the cancer center in a new series of public service videos to educate viewers about cancer prevention, screening and early detection.
Brooks has a personal connection to the issue. He lost his mother to cancer when she was just 52. So he’s urging the public to learn more about their risks and screening options for prostate and lung cancer.
Messages about breast and colon cancer were taped last month with actress Vivica Fox and Paul Anthony of Full Force, who are both members of Moffitt’s Board of Advisors. Look for these Moffitt-produced public service videos on television screens later this year.
