This annual event showcases the exciting research that is being conducted at Moffitt Cancer Center. NEW THIS YEAR: The event has been expanded to two days!

Day one will include a presentation by the W. Jack Pledger Researcher of the Year, Dr. Heather Jim; the awarding of the Clinical Mentor of the Year and the Research Mentor of the Year; a reception; and open poster viewing.

Day two will include oral and poster presentations by researchers at Moffitt. The day's events will culminate with the announcement of the People's Choice awards for the top poster presenters of the day.

Call for Abstracts - CLOSED

Clinical Fellows, Post-Doctoral Fellows, Residents, Graduate Students, Undergraduate Students, Research Scientists and Staff Scientists conducting research at Moffitt Cancer Center are invited to submit an abstract for this event (limit one abstract per presenter). Early submission of your abstract is encouraged as space is limited. The Abstract Submission site opened on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 8:00 AM and closed on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 5:00 PM.

There are three options to present your research:

  • Oral Presentation - ten (10) individuals will be selected from the submitted abstracts to give an 8-minute oral presentation. Two presentations from each of the following 5 categories will be selected: basic science research, clinical science research, population science research, quantitative science research, and translational science research. These individuals will receive a monetary award of $100. 
  • NEW this year: Featured Poster - up to fifteen (15) individuals will be selected from the submitted abstracts to be a "Featured Poster." These individuals will be given 3 minutes at the podium to give an overview of their research and they will also be given the opportunity to present a poster. These individuals will received a monetary award of $50. 
  • Poster Presentation - all others who meet the submission criteria will be selected to give a poster presentation, space limiting. These individuals will be provided a slot during a one-hour poster session and will be eligible to be selected as a "People's Choice" poster. Attendees will be able to select one poster from each of the five categories as their favorites. One winner in each category will receive a monetary award of $50.

Mentor of the Year Nominations

Nominations will be accepted from trainees for the Mentor of the Year Awards until March 22, 2019. There will be one award for a clinical mentor and one award for a research mentor. The winning nomination for Research Mentor of the Year will be selected by a committee of Moffitt postdoctoral fellows and graduate students based on the criteria in the guidelines; the winning nomination for Clinical Mentor of the Year will be selected by a committee of Moffitt clinical fellows and residents based on the criteria in the guidelines.
