Dr. Melissa Anne Mallory is a Breast Surgical Oncologist at Moffitt Cancer Center. She attended the University of Virginia for both her undergraduate and graduate studies where she received a Distinguished Major's in Biology (BS) followed by a Doctorate of Medicine (MD). Dr. Mallory completed her surgical residency at Harvard's Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA and a R25 fellowship in Multidisciplinary Image-Guided Therapy focusing on image-guided innovations for breast surgical operations at the National Center for Image-Guided Therapy and the Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Following residency, Dr. Mallory completed a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Mallory's surgical practice and clinical research is dedicated to the treatment of patients with breast cancer. Surgically she offers excisional breast biopsies, breast conserving operations (lumpectomies), sentinel node biopsies, axillary dissections, duct excisions, total mastectomies, and nipple-sparing mastectomies to appropriate candidates as part of her practice. Dr. Mallory works as part of a multidisciplinary breast cancer team at Moffitt Cancer Center, combining her expertise with medical oncologists, breast radiologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, and physical therapists to provide comprehensive compassionate care to her patients at every turn. Dr. Mallory is committed to helping her patients receive individualized and state-of-the art care. Her research interests are in breast surgical education and innovation and examining ways in which new technologies and processes-of-care advancements can improve surgical outcomes. Dr. Mallory has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, has presented nationally and abroad, and is a member the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society for Surgical Oncology.
