Daniel A. Anaya, MD

Dr. Daniel Anaya is an Associate Member in the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center. He is the Section Head of hepatobiliary tumors in the GI Tumor Program. Dr. Anaya is a surgical oncologist with a special interest in liver tumors. His clinical interests focus on the surgical treatment - as a component of multidisciplinary care - of patients with primary and metastatic hepatobiliary malignancies. Dr. Anaya's research focuses on improving the quality of cancer care and implementing models for regionalization of care for patients with complex cancers. He also has a special interest in examining the role and impact of cancer surgery on treatment and patient-centered outcomes in the geriatric population. Dr. Anaya earned his MD degree at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. He completed a General Surgery Residency at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, and a Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Anaya joined Moffitt from Baylor College of Medicine, where he was an Associate Professor in the Division of General Surgery and Surgical Oncology. He also served as the Chief, General Surgery and Surgical Oncology Section, Operative Care Line at Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Philosophy

To improve outcomes for patients with hepatobiliary malignancies by increasing access and delivery of high-quality care locally and at a population-level.
